What is a PTO?
A PTO, or Parent-Teacher Organization, is an independent and school-based organization made up of parents and guardians, teachers, staff, and administrators, who work together to promote both the welfare of students in the school and a closer relationship between school and home. A PTO also promotes educational awareness in the home, and supports efforts for the care and protection of all students.
The CMIT North Middle School PTO is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that was established to support the education of students at Chesapeake Math & IT Academy North Middle School by promoting a closer relationship between home and school so the parents and guardians, teachers, staff, and administrators may cooperate meaningfully and intelligently for the welfare of the students. The PTO will achieve this goal by working in partnership with the Chesapeake Lighthouse Foundation, as well as the school’s administration and committees, to organize events, programs, and fundraisers.
Why Join a PTO?
Decades of research have shown that when parents are involved in their children’s education, scholars are more likely to:
- Boost self-esteem
- Earn better grades
- Score higher on tests
- Better relationships with Admin and teachers
- Attend school regularly
- Show improved behavior
- Be more positive in their attitude toward school
- Complete homework assignments
- Graduate and continue their education
By joining the CMIT North Middle School PTO, you will provide support, financial and otherwise, for programming, resources, and other opportunities to the CMIT Academy North Middle School community.
In addition, you will receive support and resources, expand your network as you meet and interact with other parents and staff, and have the opportunity to put your knowledge and skills to use in support of your child and community.
Are you interested in supporting the students and faculty financially beyond simply joining the PTO? The PTO is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that accepts tax-deductible monetary donations throughout the year. Thank you in advance for supporting our scholars.
